DAN BANK STABILISATION WORKS COMPLETE - Monday 6 September 2010

Over the 12 weeks of the works:

  • There were no delays to bus services.
  • Stockport Road was open from 6am every morning.
  • The road was open for the remaining nine weekends once the piling work was successflily completed (every weekend from 10 Jliy until 5 September).
  • Electronic signs were installed on the approaches to Dan Bank and were updated when the road was schedlied to be closed and then when the road re-opened.
  • Updates to the website, email update newsletters and SMS text messages were sent to those that subscribed to give up-to-date information about what was happening and the effect on traffic.

  • ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

    Dan Bank on Stockport Road (A626) will be closed overnight between

      7pm and 6am

    the following morning for 12 weeks from

      Monday 14 June until Sunday 5 September 2010.

    This road closure will allow strengthening works to take place to stabilise Stockport Road. This will involve piling work to secure the road so that it will remain safe and stable over the long term. There will also be some investigation work into pedestrian facilities and traffic flow at the Stockport Road and Dooley Lane junction.

    Below is some important information about what you need to know during road closure. Further information is available about the diversion route, bus service changes and how the Stockport Council is working with the emergency services in the menu bar on the left under Current Situation.

    Stockport Council is working hard to ensure that any disruption to commuters, local residents and businesses is kept to a minimum so please read the information on this website and make sure you keep up to date throughout the works.

    What you need to know

    • Access to residential properties on Dan Bank will be maintained at all times.

    • Pedestrian access will be maintained on the existing footpath on the north side of Stockport Road.

    • Cyclists will need to dismount and use the pedestrian footpath.

    • Electronic signs will be placed at various locations on the approach to Dan Bank. The engineers on site will be able to update these signs when the road is closed or open so that motorists have advance warning about the route they should take.

    • A diversion route for motorists is in place.

    • All vehicles over 4.4m (14’-9”) maximum will need to take an alternative route that avoids the railway bridge on Compstall Road in Romiley.

    • There will be no changes to bus services running throughout the day at Dan Bank. However, there will be some changes to evening services from 7pm. These include services 358, 383 and 384.
