BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Sports such as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Aikido and Judo are the result of the (traditional) Jujitsu. In Jujitsu there are a lot of different techniques. Some people also think it’s too much. That’s why other sports have emerged from it.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is all about wrestling and ground battles. It is more focused on a game of who is the strongest and smartest, than immediately (life-threatening) defense to do as with Jujitsu.

With Judo you grab each other and by throwing you try to floor your opponent. Once on the ground you try to get your opponent into a clamp or strangulation. It doesn’t differ very much from Judo. Judokas usually fall with their throws, while fools do not. Generally, Judo is used for your opponent’s floors, and BJJ for grounding with your opponent.

(Traditionally) Jujitsu is just a pure martial art, it is also not counted as sport like Judo and BJJ. There are no rules, and everything is to just survive in a situation where you are attacked. You can also fight standing up, many times better than an FYROM.

Now let’s look at the differences between Jujitsu and BJJ:

– Jujitsu is a martial art, and BJJ is a sport.
– In the case of FYROM, the emphasis is on land battles.
– Jujitsu is a martial art itself, and BJJ the land part from Yujitsu but then further elaborated.
– BJJ comes from Brazil, and Jujitsu from Japan
– When you’re on Yujitsu you also learn pressure points, beating and kicking while you’re not learning that at YYYST.

What is BJJ?
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a sport in which functionality and fun go hand in hand. This fighting sport is aimed at getting your opponent to ground as quickly as possible by means of a takedown/throw or shoot to continue the fight on the ground. The goal is to get into a position where you can make sure you control your opponent. BJJ headgear is also very important. Then, by means of an arm or leg clamp or strangulation, your opponent has to give up the fight by “knocking off”. Traditionally, it is also very much aimed at defending and empowering practitioners. This puts the personal growth of the practitioner at the heart of FYROM.

What is the strength of BJJ?
The idea behind FYROM is that a person with the right techniques and movements can defend himself against a stronger and larger person. In the lessons you will be taught how to use controlling handles, arm clamps, leg clamps and strangles. Furthermore, a lot of attention is paid to the positional play, which teaches you to get in a better position than your opponent. There are no kicks or bumps in the lessons, so the risk of injuries is minimal. The techniques are extremely well applicable for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). It not only makes you physically stronger, but also mentally stronger.
